"You pack a lot of great info in on how to polish the voice, which is exactly what I need!"
Michelle D.

"Singing with Style is a one of a kind vocal training method. Through classic jazz songs, you will learn essentially everything you need to know to develop a unique and interesting vocal style. Although this is a jazz based system, it can be used for any style. I especially recommend this to R&B and pop vocalists who are struggling with riffing and phrasing, as well as singers of any genre who are bored with using scales to warm up. "
Austin Jenkins, Austin Vocal Studio, Jackson, OH

"I have dealt with a number of professionals in the world of music training and theory, but your no-nonsense explanations, examples and song choices really yield results. For under $20.00, your approach and process must be the equivalent of hundreds of dollars in singing lessons. Thank you, Susan!"
Barry Thomas, Lebanon, OR

Singing with Style combines three essential elements of singing:  you'll learn good vocal technique, how to warm up your voice, and how to stylize a song. It's a 3-CD set or download that has almost four hours of material. In the first half, you'll learn the essentials of good singing technique as you sing through a vocal warm up of eleven jazz standards. In the second half you'll learn how to stylize all of the same songs with ornaments, vocal riffs, runs, scat singing, phrasing, and much more. You can use everything you'll learn with other contemporary styles, including pop, rock, R&B, country, singer-songwriter and blues.

Singing with Style Includes:
• Three CDs of eleven jazz standards played by a jazz trio (piano, bass and drums).
• The Vocal Warm Up section includes the songs with vocals and instructional introductions.
• The Vocal Style section includes the songs with more stylized vocals and instructional introductions.
• The same songs minus the guide vocal. These tracks without vocals can be used as a jazz vocal warm up, or for practicing different vocal style ideas.

In the Vocal Warm Up Section you'll learn about correct breathing and posture, how to warm up correctly, increase your range, improve your intonation (pitch), build control, build resonance, and improve your tone, volume and vocal endurance. Singer’s diction, the mix register, safe belting, articulation, and vibrato development and control are also covered.

In the Vocal Style Section you'll learn phrasing, improvising, ornaments (licks and fills), pentatonic runs, scat singing, interpretation, melodic variation, vocal texture variations, and all the other vocal licks you've heard singers do but couldn't figure out.

If you're a beginning singer you can sing through the Vocal Warm Up Section at your own pace to learn how to sing correctly, and to develop vocal strength and range. If you're an experienced singer you can skip the instructional intros and use the Vocal Warm Up Section to maintain your vocal technique and strength. Once you've learned the songs, you can also skip the Vocal Warm Up Section and move directly to working with the Vocal Style Section

"Thank you for creating the most beautiful jazz singing lessons. They are exactly what I needed,
and downloading them created a fantastic opportunity to receive your expert teaching in London."

"This is crammed full of practical teaching: I've bought similar programs which were less professional and only a fraction of the content for over $300. I'm currently paying $80 per hour for singing lessons for which I'm getting far less help than on any one of your CDs. I can't believe my luck in finding this site on the internet."
Richard Danks

"An excellent, systematic program for jazz singers: This course is based on jazz style specifically, but should benefit singers of other popular vocal styles. The basic understanding of vocal technique is explained well, and the lessons progress quickly, but the important parts are covered fairly thoroughly."
Phyllis Stillwell

Audio Samples

On the first three audio samples the warm up version of the song is followed by the vocal style version.
