The pandemic has made 2020 a rough year for singers physically, emotionally, and financially. I write about this and how to safely get back to singing in this new blog.

Sorry for my delay in posting this blog--unfortunately all of the info is still very relevant.

I'm teaching all lessons via Skype or Zoom while we all are sheltering at home. I hope you all are healthy and safe. If you are a frontline worker I thank you for your dedication.

I've taken a break from working on my next album 13 Women to arrange and produce twelve new songs to add to the Sing Harmonies App--the songs include Seven Bridges Road, Shallow, Sound of Silence, and What a Beautiful Name. They'll be available via in-app purchase mid-summer.

I've been thoroughly enjoying the new releases from Mary Bragg and Scott Ramminger. Mary is a friend who has sung on some of the Sing Harmonies App songs, and Scott is a talented student of mine.

Mary is a top-notch singer whose voice stands out among the many wonderful singers in Nashville, and her new release VIOLETS AS CAMOUFLAGE is filled with beautiful melodies and deep lyrics, as well as excellent Americana-style production.

Scott's new release RISE UP has eight original songs ranging from flat-out blues to jazz standards, all with smart lyrics, soulful vocals, and tasty musicianship from Scott and his band.

A talented young singer who studies with me sent me three questions for a homework assignment. Here are my answers.

I've learned a few new vocal healing methods since The Vocal Recovery Warmup was released, so I just updated the ebook. The 2019 updated ebook will download automatically if you purchase the method. If you purchased the warmup via this site sometime in the past contact me and I'll send you the updated ebook for free.

It's touted as a sometimes miraculous method for helping singers. I've never been to one and I wasn't experiencing vocal problems, but I wanted to find out what happens at a session and if it made a difference in my singing. Here's my report.

Congratulations to my student Ava Preston for winning in two categories in Downbeat Magazine's 2018 Student Music Awards:  Vocal Jazz Soloist (Junior High School) and Blues/Pop/Rock Soloist (Junior High School). She got a nice write-up in the magazine, too. That's a pretty great achievement when you're only thirteen! Ava is an extraordinary singer, remember her name.
